If you love winter and would love to see high snow-clad mountains, then visiting during May-June is the time for you.

The best time would be between June-September as the temperature is warm and the days are long.

Some of the leading network carriers are based there. While travelling by road, you will be able to utilize BSNL and Airtel postpaid services. However, there are certain spots in Leh where you would be unable to use any cell network at all.

When you approach the Union Territory of Ladakh, the roads become a little rougher. During your road trip to Leh, you must put your driving talents to the test. Driving on a regular road is not the same as driving in mountainous terrain.

Winding roads and traffic bottlenecks around the mountain pass may put your driving abilities to the test. You only need to be confident and focused when driving.

There are no direct flights to Leh airport. You can reach Delhi, which has various connecting paths in North India. Please note that you will have to bear all expenses related to your travel to Leh airport from your place.

By Air

The recommended way to reach from New Delhi to Leh is a flight to Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport which takes 1h 15m.

By Rail

There is no train station in Leh, thus you can’t get there by train. Jammu Tawi (700 kilometres from Ladakh) is the closest railway station, having connections to Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. To go to Ladakh from Jammu, you can rent a cab or take a JKSRTC bus.

By Road

By road, Leh can be reached from major cities like Delhi (966 km), Chandigarh (733 km), and Jammu (695 km). You can rent a cab or take a JKSRTC bus to go to Ladakh from Jammu.
