Long Weekend Coorg & Wayanad Adventure

About The Trip

The unique milieu of India gives us chances to feel miscellaneous expressions at will. Not that other days don’t remind us of this, but Independence Day on 15 August makes us feel a bit more independent, special and responsible.

On the aisle of the Long Weekend in August, an adventure is ringing that will bring packets of peace and harmony. Dive deep into the itinerary, which will showcase the diverse faces of Karnataka and Kerala in 4 Days

Presenting to you Wayanad and Coorg Long Weekend trip.

In these four days, we will cover two treks (Banasura Hills trek and Tadiandamol trek), visit Golden temple, sit beside Meenmutty Waterfalls, Irrupu Waterfalls, and Chelavara Waterfalls, visit Banasura Sagar Dam, and taste Coorg-style food.

Drive off the Gold mines of Wayanad without even knowing they existed. What physical entities [pronounce gold] beneficial to the economy could not do, tourism is doing it. Plunderers and business people have hawked Wayanad's Gold Mines for millennia. When the mines could not fetch them profits, they created plantations. To make the cut, a lot of forest land vanished. With gold, this part of Kerala could have been covered in silence. But the suitable climate, various art forms, religious diversity, and abundant natural aura invite travellers, keeping the fun and frolic ignited in this hill station.

The Banasura Sagar dam, India's largest earthen dam and Asia's second-largest, impounds the waters of the Karamanathodu, a Kabini river tributary. With the Banasura hill in the distance, the view of the reservoir created by the dam and its many little islands covered in lush vegetation is breathtaking.

As part of its never-ending beauty and wonders, Coorg brings to you its highest point: Tadiandamol, a trek at an altitude of 5735 feet. This stunning peak is surrounded by the greenery and expanses of the Shola forests, broken by the beautiful blueness of the water bodies that cut through it. The word Tadiandamol in Kannada means a big mountain, which is what it exactly is.

In Coorg, we will visit Chelavara Waterfalls and Golden Temple. Ending our Wayanad and Coorg Long Weekend trip, we will get absorbed in overwhelming memories from the trip on the way back home.

On the Wayanad and Coorg Long Weekend Getaway package, you are bound to surrender to the rhythms of natural and man-made marvels. This itinerary for the upcoming long weekend in August will take you to places with Geographical, Historical, and Mythological significance.

Note: Long Weekend seats are limited and only reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis. So, kindly go through the complete itinerary and reserve your seat at your earliest.

Banasura Hill Trek Distance: 18 km
Difficulty Level of Banasura Hill Trek: Moderate-Hard

We will reach Wayanad approximately at 7 am. After freshening up and breakfast, we will leave for the Banasura Hill trek. The trail to the top of Banasura Hill is clearly defined for the most part. The majority of the trail winds through some very dense Shola trees. From its base, Banasura, a massive cone-shaped hill, may be seen in all its glory.

The Banasura Falls diverge into a babbling stream that meanders over stones and plants. About 2.5 kilometres from the Banasura dam in Wayanad is where the ascent begins. The Meenmutty waterfalls are about a half-walk hour from the Forest Service office and are worth the effort (beginning stage of the Banasura Hill trek). Meenmutty Falls is Wayanad's most impressive waterfall, with numerous spectacular cascades. The 1,000-foot cascade is famous for its three-tiered playing field.

It's an arduous climb to the top of the hill. The hiking path stealthily winds through the valleys, where swaying crops provide a lush backdrop. Throughout the Trek, there are a few spots where the grandeur of the Shola forests stands out. The trek offers a progressively more impressive view of the Karamanathodu stream of the Kabini River

The three-hour hike to the summit is stimulating and taxing due to the path's undulations and steepness. The first 45 minutes of this route are the most challenging because of how steep it is from the get-go. Some parts of the Trek are particularly dangerous due to leeches and thorny bushes. Therefore the travellers must proceed with caution.

About halfway there, you'll see three or four breathtaking mountain streams where you can refill your water bottles. After the initial hard elevation, the remaining 1.5 hours will gradually incline. In addition to rocks and boulders, the grass on the trail is knee-high.

Several cliffsides provide a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. Carry on ambling down the trail; you'll pass a few knolls en route to the summit. The top is the best place to get breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Continue down the same path you came down with. It'll take you three to four hours to make your way down the nine-kilometre stretch of winding terrain, including mountain streams, knee-high prairie, and 60-70 degree inclines. The most challenging part is over. At the homestay, freshen up, have dinner, and sit around for a crispy chit-chat/dance/game session. Exchange talks, horror stories, and count stars.

The Banasura Sagar dam, India's largest earthen dam and Asia's second-largest impounds the Karamanathodu waters, a Kabini river tributaryWith the Banasura hill in the distance, the view of the reservoir created by the dam and its many little islands covered in lush vegetation is breathtaking. This dam is named after Banasura, who was the son of Mahabali. It is said to have been impounding mature gold underneath itself. This gold was once minced in quantities.

We would spend time doing different activities like zip-lining and boating. (All activities are self-sponsored.) After this adventurous session, let’s satisfy our hunger and consume lunch (self-sponsored).

Later, we will leave for Coorg, 160 km from Wayanad. It will take around 5 hours to reach Coorg. Midway, if time permits, we will go to Iruppu Falls. Continuing our journey, we will reach the homestay in Coorg late in the evening, freshen up, have dinner and retire for the night.

Breakfast

Details

Punched up with breakfast, we will go to Tadiandamol Trek. The trek will start from the base village of Kakkabe, which hosts the starting point of the trek, Nalakand Palace. On the road up, you will come across a waterfall and several streams that will be a feast for your eyes!

During the journey, you will come across the Big Rock, where you can enjoy your meal. The steep ascent up to False Point might make you feel a little out of breath, but seeing the gorgeous view of the forest cover from the point will be worth it. Following this point, the trail will get narrow and steeper, but it will be well compensated by the beautiful flowers you will see on either side.

You will start the descent back to the base camp and finish the trek by 6 pm. That does not mean the fun has ended; it has just begun. You will receive the lovely traditional Coorg meals, which can be eaten alongside the bonfire.

Details

Today is the last day. So we will try to make the best use of the time. It’s going to be a peaceful day. After breakfast, we will go to Chelavara Waterfalls.

We will skip the crowded waterfalls and go to Chelavara Waterfalls, created by a tributary of river Kaveri, with a 150 ft drop over a rock that resembles a tortoise.

After this, we will go to Golden Temple in Kushalnagar. It is widely regarded as one of the world's foremost institutions for promoting, studying, and preserving Vajrayana Tibetan Buddhism. You might get lucky and join one of the 300 resident monks in prayer, an experience far beyond anything you've ever imagined.

After this, the trip back to Bangalore will commence.
Although almost impossible, we will have to leave each other's company to return to routine, which is equally important. This was a punched-up, spiced celebration of 76 years of independence as we enter the 77th year. Rest well and stay positive. And once you are ready to do it again, call us. Our team would love to hear from you again. Check our other itineraries and ring us soon. Till then, take care and love life.
