f you’re looking to explore “God’s Own Country” on foot, here’s a secret worth sharing: Kerala is dotted with offbeat trekking trails tucked deep in the Western Ghats — and Ranipuram Peak is one of its finest hidden gems. Located in Kasaragod district, Ranipuram offers a beginner-friendly trek that captures the essence of the Western Ghats in just a few short hours. The trail winds through montane forests and grasslands, leading to panoramic views from the summit — lush green valleys below and glimpses of the Arabian Sea far to the west.
At the top, massive boulders perch dramatically, shaped by time and wind. No one really knows how these rocks came to rest at the summit — but the sight is genuinely breathtaking. People often compare the views to Ooty, but Ranipuram remains untouched and serene, far from the crowds, offering solitude and natural beauty.
After soaking in Ranipuram’s charm, the journey continues with a cozy homestay stay, followed by river rafting at Cherupuzha — a thrilling must-do adventure (subject to river conditions and permit availability). The trip wraps up with a visit to Bekal Fort, a beautiful coastal fort with sweeping Arabian Sea views, before we head back to Bangalore with memories of mountains, rivers, forts, and quiet trails.
Important Note:
Please book this trip at least 5 days before departure so we can secure rafting slots and confirm homestay arrangements.
If river rafting is not permitted due to strong rapids or safety concerns, we will arrange an alternate activity.
If you are joining us from a different city, get in touch with us before booking your return journey so we can advise you on the arrival time back in Bangalore.

After arriving at homestay, we’ll take some time to freshen up and have breakfast before heading to the trek start point.
The trail is fairly easy and beginner-friendly. We begin by walking through dense shola forests before emerging into wide open grasslands. During monsoon and winter, the sun breaking through the clouds feels pleasant, but in summer it can feel intense — though passing clouds bring welcome shade. Along the way, we pass an old stone hut once used by forest guards, now weathered and partially damaged, possibly by elephants. Nearby, there’s a small pool where elephants are known to come and play.
It takes about an hour to reach the summit. From the top, you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the forests, distant hills, and on a clear day, even a glimpse of the Arabian Sea far to the west. We’ll pause for a packed lunch en route.
After spending some time at the summit, we’ll begin our descent. The trail can become slippery if it rains, so sturdy shoes with good grip are important for a safe walk down.
Once back at the base, we return to our homestay for dinner and relaxed conversations before calling it a night.

Day 2 begins with a relaxed morning at the homestay. After freshening up, we’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast before setting out for the day’s adventures.
Our first stop is at Cherupuzha for river rafting — an absolute highlight of the trip. The stretch here offers an exciting but safe rafting experience, ideal for beginners as well as those looking for a thrill. The river winds through beautiful Kerala countryside, and rafting here is not just about adrenaline, but also about soaking in the scenic surroundings. Please note that rafting is subject to river conditions and permit availability, so pre-booking helps ensure we don’t miss this adventure.
After rafting, we’ll break for lunch, giving everyone a chance to refuel and relax.
Post lunch, we make our way to Bekal Fort — a stunning coastal fort built in the 17th century. Its strategic location offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea, and as we walk around its laterite walls and observation towers, you’ll get a sense of the region’s history and importance as a coastal stronghold. Bekal Fort also makes for some great photo opportunities, with the ocean as a backdrop.
As the day winds down, we’ll stop for dinner (self-sponsored) at a popular local spot before beginning our overnight journey back to Bangalore. We expect to reach Bangalore early the next morning, bringing home memories of a weekend well spent — a perfect mix of adventure, nature and history.
