As you walk through the meadows and mountains that take you to the lake, you will experience nature like never before.

So, if you are in and around Delhi (or have a group large enough to travel from Bangalore), the Bhrigu Lake trek is waiting!

Trek Highlights

It is believed that the revered saint Maharishi Bhrigu used to sit and meditate near a lake, hence giving the water body its name. But this trek takes you beyond just the lake – it is an opportunity to explore the charm and charisma of Himachal Pradesh.

  • You start from Manali and make your way to Kulang, the base camp for the trek
  • After a short rest, we will take you to Moridurgh, where you will experience untouched meadows and fragrant forests
  • As you make your way to the campsite, enjoy the serene yet stunning scenery
  • An early morning breakfast is how you will start your trek to Bhrigu Lake trek
  • Walk along the greenest of meadows and then enter a terrain that is rocky
  • Wonder at the beauty of the lake, with Deo Tibba summits, Indraasan, Hanuman Tibba, and Friendship Peak in the background
  • On the 3rd day, we will take you back towards Kulang, from where Manali is just a few hours drive

When we designed the Bhrigu Lake trek itinerary, we made sure that there was a little bit of everything – some trekking, some time to relax, views that would leave you spellbound and the chance to forge some new friendships. So, why not sign up for a trip and experience all this and then some more!

The group will meet at the pickup point in Manali at 9 in the morning, where the trek leader will brief you about the plan and the necessary rules to be followed during the following day of the trek. We will get a brief introduction and preparations and then head to Kulang, the site of the starting point of Bhrigu Lake Trek.

After taking a short rest at Kulang the trek then continues towards Moridugh until it passes scenic trails slowly. The route changes in shape and nature to be open to flat lands, followed by a lush oak and deodar forest which then opens up to much stunning meadow. The trail is not too demanding though it has some sections that are rather steep, which makes it a good beginning of the trek.

By dusk we will reach the Moridugh campsite after 4 to 5 hours of scoping along. Enjoy the evening with panoramic sceneries and the tranquility of nature. Hike to an overnight campsite to have a warm dinner and sleep there under the stars.

Followed by an early breakfast, we will go up Bhrigu Lake, which is beautiful in its altitude as well (14,100 ft). The lake is of immense spiritual importance being a seat of meditation of one of the seven holy sages in Hindu mythology, Rishi Bhrigu.

The pathway to the lake is a treat to the eye- greenery all around and the infinite green meadows make one feel as though he or she were on a high-altitude heavenly realm. As we get high the ground becomes more rocky and rough towards the lake.

When you arrive at the lake you are going to feel awestruck regarding the crystal-clear waters with a backdrop of grandeur mountains such as Deo Tibba, Indrasan, Hanuman Tibba, and Friendship Peak. Here we are going to sit awhile to imbibe the calm and preserve a few mementos, we shall then retrace our steps to Moridugh.

Arrive back at the Moridugh campsite by evening. Spend a fulfilling dinner and relax under the skies stippled with stars and enjoy the experience of this high altitude wonder.

Once done with breakfast, we say good bye to campsite Moridugh, and we descend towards Kulang, backtracking our steps into the green oaks and the serene meadow, which greeted us on Day 1. This must also be a good time to absorb the final images of the Himalayan wilderness and print them in your consciousness.

The journey, which lasts approximately 4-5 hours, slowly leads us to bring us to the base village of Kulang. Here we shall make our drive of 45 minutes to Manali which is the formal end to the journey.

We say our goodbyes, our hearts full of gratitude and our backpacks full of memories, and we set out each to continue our lives knowing that mountains are forever there and will always await us.
