Good things are worth waiting for...

They call it the "Teardrop of India," but honestly? After a week here, you’ll be the one crying when it’s time to head to the airport.
Sri Lanka isn’t just a destination; it’s a mood. It’s the smell of cinnamon and sea salt, the sound of a train clicking through emerald tea estates, and the sight of ancient rock fortresses rising out of the jungle like something out of a storybook.
At Plan The Unplanned, we’ve traded the typical "tourist bus" vibe for an authentic backpacking soul. We’re heading south to the surf-town rhythms of Mirissa, trekking through the misty, Ramayana-steeped trails of Ella, and standing in awe of the Sigiriya rock towers. From the colonial charm of Galle’s cobblestone streets to the spiritual quiet of Kandy’s temples, this isn't just a sightseeing trip—it’s a journey with a tribe of fellow explorers who believe that the best way to see the world is with an open mind and a backpack.
Whether we’re chasing the "Eighth Wonder of the World," lounging at the Ravana Pool Club, or sharing stories over a spicy Sri Lankan curry, this 8-day odyssey is about more than just the itinerary. It’s about the unplanned conversations, the shared sunsets, and that feeling of absolute freedom you only get when you cross an ocean to find yourself.
The island is ready. The tribe is waiting. Are you in?

Beach beginnings & slow arrivals
Land in Colombo — your gateway to Sri Lanka.
After immigration, meet our local representative and begin the drive south toward Mirissa. Watch the scenery shift from city chaos to palm-lined coastal calm.
Once in Mirissa, check in, freshen up, and let the pace drop. The rest of the day is yours — walk barefoot on the beach, watch the waves roll in, or just do nothing at all.
Overnight stay in Mirissa.

To ensure everyone has a great time and knows what to expect, please read these important points:
For everyone’s safety and enjoyment, please don’t consume alcohol, intoxicants, or smoke at any point during the journey or trek.
Kindly complete your dinner before you board the bus.
We’ll arrange transportation based on our group size. If there are 12 or fewer of us, we’ll use a tempo traveler. For groups of 13 or more, it’ll be a mini-bus. Both options are non-AC and have push-back seats for your comfort. We appreciate your understanding regarding our travel logistics.
If you prefer to arrange your own transportation to the destination (the homestay), be sure to book the “Without Travel” option when you sign up. Please note: If you select this, you’ll need a private car for your entire trip. Public transport won’t work, as our Day 2 activities begin directly from the homestay and require continuous private car access to ensure you can fully participate in all planned activities.
Our trips are about getting out into nature, often in remote locations. Please don’t expect luxury accommodations; we focus on providing comfortable basic facilities.
We’ll provide basic, vegetarian meals. We do not serve non-vegetarian food.
Please help us keep our beautiful outdoors clean by disposing of all litter properly.
You are responsible for your personal belongings, valuables, and jewelry. Plan The Unplanned is not liable for any lost items.
While we strive to be on schedule, please be aware that traffic delays or vehicle breakdowns can sometimes occur, leading to slight delays in reaching our destination.
You’ll get an event heads-up email by Thursday of the trip week. It includes:
