Note:
Following are the pick-up points & timings:
Wake up to the bus winding down the roads of the Western Ghats. Along the sides of the road is a dense green forest, occasional streams and small falls. We will reach our homestay and freshen up. Enjoy enough of the delicious Kerala cuisine breakfast to fuel you through the day.
The trek begins from the Forest department shed at Thirunelli and is a 10 km long and beautiful walk. The first three kilometers are along a thick forest with the smell of fresh dung attesting to be the home of elephant herds. After walking through the dense forest, it clears up, opening to grasslands and view of adjacent peaks. There are three hills constituting Brahmagiri. Everywhere there is lush greenery and the sun plays hide and seek behind the clouds. A steep climb onto the peak onto a wide flat area gently sloping upwards will lead you to the peak. All the exhaustion will be taken away by the gorgeous views all around you. As Waynad is close to the Karnataka border you can see the stunning landscapes of Karnataka as well as Kerala.
Once the lunch with a view is done and eyes are sore because of the beauty in front of it, you will make your way back down. The descent is a little challenging but what’s a trek without a little challenge, right?
We will reach back down by evening and head back to the homestay. Freshen up and come out for snacks as well as an evening filled with games. After dinner, warm up around the bonfire (if the weather permits) and share stories. Sleepaway the exhaustion!
You can wake up and laze around a bit or go on a short walk in nature before having breakfast and packing up to leave. Today is going to be a road trip plus a visit to the Palchuram waterfalls. Wayanad is known for its cascading waterfalls and Palchuram is a quietly hidden waterfall in between the forests.
Located on the border between Wayanad and Kannur, Palchurma falls is a four-step cascade waterfall making its way through the dense forests of the Western Ghats. To reach the falls, one must undertake a challenging trek through winding forest trails and huge boulders that make for an exhilarating experience. The trek difficulty increases with each tier of the waterfall with trekkers having to make their way up vertical rock faces and steep inclines at several spots. However, with several natural pools at each tier, Palchuram falls lets you experience its white frothy cascade first hand for a refreshing break from the arduous trek. It’s also possible to stand directly under its gushing waters that make for a thrilling albeit painful affair. However, exercise extreme caution while maneuvering over slippery rocks. Remote and far away from any kind of civilization, find yourself amidst pristine wilderness on this breathtaking trek to Palchuram falls as part of our Wayanad itinerary.
Filled with flora, fauna, stunning views and waterfalls Wayand is a perfect weekend getaway!
