What are you doing this weekend?

Kunti Betta Trek - Plan The Unplanned

No matter when you ask me this question, my answer will always me same: “Nothing”. But this weekend was different, I had a plan – a plan I was delaying for a really long time. But the moment I got to know none of my friends are coming, I just lost that enthusiasm.

I was confused to make a decision “to go or not to go?” I have never been out all by myself, it’s not like I never wanted to but I have brought up in a society where going alone or with “strangers” is more concern than the freedom.

After having many denial thoughts, I decided to take a trek to Kunti Betta with “Plan the Unplanned” through 91SpringBoard.

I was excited and nervous at the same time as I didn’t know anyone there. The journey started by wishing Hello-Good morning as we boarded the bus at 6 o’clock. There was silence in the air for a while before I heard someone behind my seat starting a conversation with the co-passenger.

Well, not all of us are the icebreaker in the game of traveling with people. At this moment our trek leaders from “Plan the Unplanned” decided to do it for us with a unique and exciting way to introduce ourselves. We didn’t realize when we reached our destination as everyone was busy participating in the game and making it more fun for others. We took our packed lunch and started our trek to the top of the hill.

We were dumbstruck as we reached the highest peak of the hill. Everyone was revitalized the moment breeze brushed our hair and view left us mesmerized. We sat for a while to take a break, staring at the endless sky, looking at those tiny towns between the forest and losing ourselves in the moment.

A voice broke through our thoughts as we heard our trek leaders saying “We have another trail to cover”. Oh God! We never wanted to move out of this picturesque panorama, but there was much more to explore. While coming back, we rested at the Thonnur Lake to see the sunset which painted the horizon red and orange and left us awestruck.

We were back on the track as we traveled back to Bangalore, everybody was filled with zest. We played few more games before we could stop for dinner.

This trip is one of my favorites till now and what’s the reason?

  • I realized the trip is not all about the place you are traveling to but also about people you are traveling with.

  • I was able to bond a little closer to everyone throughout the trip including myself.

  • It may be hard to reach the top but the view will always worth the struggle.

  • We all have a kid hidden beneath our matured decisions.
