Hampi is the town which was once ruled by the Vijayanagara Empire. It is one of the UNESCO recognized World Heritage Sites in India. The place is one of India’s most known archaeological destinations. The town of Hampi is in a secluded area, with royal residences, temples, towers, roads, and statues, all spread over a massive area. The heritage site is located near the River Tungabhadra. It was once the imperial capital of the Vijayanagar Empire and even if the structures are already centuries-old, they still remain stunning.

We shall explore through picturesque valleys intersected by the river. We’ll cycle down the trail through mythical landscapes imbued with the presence of Gods, Goddesses and Heroes linked with ancient legends. Call the cyclist in you – because you will experience stretches that’ll challenge your limits, sceneries that’ll indulge your senses and interactions with the locals that’ll expose you to their culture and way of life.

Badami

Badami is an ancient town situated in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka. Badami was the capital of the Chalukya Dynasty that ruled over the most parts of peninsular India. Situated at an average elevation of 1922 ft above the sea level at the mouth a ravine, Badami is tucked in between two rugged sandstone outcrops. This town lies surrounding the 5th century Agastya Tirtha Lake, a holy lake famous for the healing property of its water.

Rock Climbing in Badami

Badami is a famous adventure destination in the state of Karnataka, owing to the presence of red sandstone cliffs that surround the Agastya Tirtha water reservoir. These sandstone cliffs have horizontal cracks, which make Badami a favored destination for rock climbers.

Rock climbers visiting Badami can go for free climbing (Trad & Sports Climbing) and bouldering. Badami rocks have many multiple routes and more than 150 bolted routes. Adventurous rock climbers, including beginners and professionals, can enjoy rock climbing at Badami. The ease in rock climbing at the sandstone cliffs of Badami has earned it the title ‘the Mecca of Rock Climbing’ among local as well as international rock climbing enthusiasts.

Hampi

We shall explore through picturesque valleys intersected by the river. We’ll cycle down the trail through mythical landscapes imbued with the presence of Gods, Goddesses and Heroes linked with ancient legends. Call the cyclist in you – because you will experience stretches that’ll challenge your limits, sceneries that’ll indulge your senses and interactions with the locals that’ll expose you to their culture and way of life.

Cycle to Sasivekalu Ganesh to check out its unique female statues and to marvel at its architecture. Visit Queens Bath, where the ladies in power used to indulge in aquatic sports. You are guaranteed to be enthralled by its Islamic design and grandeur. In Hazara Rama Temple, let its stone carvings enlighten you about the Ramayana epic. Other awe-inspiring locations include Krishna Temple, Narasimha Image, Badavi Linga, Underground Shiva Temple, and much more.

After reliving the historical chapters of Hampi, we shall head towards Badami, another town of Deccan having an immensely important role in Indian history.

Badami

Founded by the Chalukyas, Badami in Karnataka is one destination in India that can steal one’s heart in a fraction of a second. The heart melting landscape accompanied by beautifully done temples and fort can easily draw the attention of the travelers from around the globe. You may compare this town to other ancient destinations in the country but we can assure you that there is only one such place that completely nails the Karnataka tour and Badami is what it is called.

The architecture style of Badami is such that it was successful in inspiring the architecture of Vijayanagar Empire. The Rock Cut Caves found here is probably one of the most scenic structures in India. The inner halls of the caves have prolific sculptural symbolism; there is a fine balance of versatility and restraint in the caves.

Nothing can beat the beauty of Badami. Blessed and adorned with nature’s best and sound temples and monuments, Badami makes for an ideal photography destination in India. The undertones of the edifices and the vibrancy of flora conjure an image that cannot be second. The beauty of the place is such that picture taken from any angle looks simply outstanding. Therefore, for those who enjoy photography, Badami is a must visit in India.

The tour of Hampi will definitely turn to a much enriching experience when Badami is added to it.
